Para swimmer Yip Pin Xiu and equestrian Laurentia Tan set to fly the flag at Games
Pair hoping to inspire the nation with their sporting achievements
Singapore is set to send a strong team of Paralympians to the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, with swimmer Yip Pin Xiu and equestrian Laurentia Tan among the athletes hoping to showcase their talents on the world stage.
Yip, who has won four Paralympic medals in swimming, including two golds, will be looking to add to her tally in Paris. She is currently ranked number one in the world in the women's 50m and 100m backstroke S2 events.
Tan, who made her Paralympic debut at the Tokyo Games last year, will be competing in para equestrian dressage. She is currently ranked number two in the world in the Grade IV individual test event.
Both Yip and Tan are hoping to inspire the nation with their sporting achievements. Yip said: "I want to show the world that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. I hope my achievements will inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter what challenges they face."
Tan added: "I'm proud to represent Singapore at the Paralympic Games. I hope my performance will make people in Singapore proud and encourage them to get involved in para equestrian."
The Paralympic Games will be held in Paris from August 28 to September 8, 2024. Singapore will be hoping to build on its success at the Tokyo Games, where it won two gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals.
