The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly set to sign free agent defensive end Whitney Mercilus. Mercilus was released by the Green Bay Packers on March 14.
Mercilus Provides Colts With Pass-Rushing Help
Mercilus is expected to provide the Colts with much-needed help in the pass-rushing department.
Last season, Indianapolis finished with just 33 sacks, tied for 27th in the NFL.
Mercilus has recorded 54 sacks in his career.
Colts Defense Struggles in 2022
The Colts defense struggled in 2022, allowing 25.0 points per game (17th in the NFL).
Indianapolis also allowed 353.9 yards per game (21st in the NFL).
Colts Hoping To Bounce Back in 2023
The Colts have been busy this offseason trying to improve their defense.
Indianapolis has added several players, including Mercilus, Bobby Okereke, and Gus Bradley.
The Colts are hoping that the additions will make them more competitive in 2023.

Mercilus said he is excited to join the Colts and is looking forward to playing a big role.
"I'm just excited to be a part of this team and do whatever I can to help us win games," Mercilus said.
Mercilus Brings Experience to Colts
Mercilus brings a wealth of experience to the Indianapolis Colts.
He has played in 122 NFL games and has started 92 of them.
In addition to his 54 sacks, Mercilus has also recorded 245 tackles, 91 tackles for loss, 32 quarterback hits and 14 forced fumbles.
